Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has reported on areas of war for over more than 45 years. Her work focuses on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry has reported on wars around the globe, and has reported on conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, born November 19th, 1956 (Agana) was an American journalist who worked as anchor of a newscast on TV. Curry was well-known for the reporting she did on natural catastrophes and war torn countries. Curry was born in Japan and was raised by an Japanese mom. Her father served as a U.S. Navy sailor. Her parents met while their father was in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Because of her father's military service, the family relocated often. Curry completed her high school in Ashland Oregon. When she graduated from University of Oregon, Curry earned a bachelor of journalism degree in 1978. Her likely to have acquired an empathy-based way of communicating due to her exposure to diverse cultures in her early years. Curry as well as her husband were frequently moving, so she did not stay in one school over a period of more than two years. She and her husband travelled to numerous locations such as San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Finally, she graduated Ashland High School. In Medford the following year, she began her career in broadcasting at KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. At the age 22, she became the station's first female reporter. Later, she moved into the position of an anchor and reporter at KGW which was an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. After four years of service, she was appointed an anchor by KCBS TV located in Los Angeles. She received 2 Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
